Lockport Alliance Church
Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Congregational Care

Job Overview: The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor in advancing the mission of Lockport Alliance Church. He will provide leadership, oversight, and staff support for several key areas of ministry. 
 

Ministry Responsibilities: 

Small Groups 

  • Recruit, train, and deploy small group leaders.  
  • Hold regular small group leader meetings as a means for communication and training.  
  • Assist small group leaders in recruiting members for their groups and all other elements of their groups as needed.  
  • Familiarize himself with curriculum resources in order to make recommendations to groups.  
  • Develop a strategy to effectively communicate the importance of small groups to the church through Sunday morning gatherings, newsletters, etc.  

 Congregational Care 

  • Serve as the “point person” and coordinator for congregational care needs.  
  • Develop a team and a plan to implement care for the congregation. 
  • Prepare monthly reports of current health/emotional needs within LAC family for elders. 
  • Meet newcomers and help them connect to the life of the church.  
  • Encourage and contact those who are marginalized/fly under the radar. 
  • Be highly visible, welcoming, and friendly on Sunday mornings and at other church functions.  
  • Assist church staff in writing notes and following up with recent guests at LAC.  
  • Recruit, train, and oversee greeters, hospitality, and prayer teams for Sunday mornings. 

Men’s, Women’s & Youth Ministry Teams 

  • Serve as staff support to both the Men’s and Women’s Ministry teams.  
  • Provide ministry coaching to the Youth Ministry Director through regular meetings. 
  • Assist in developing vision and strategy for these vital ministries. 

Missions Focus  

  • Develop a strategy for both local and global missions engagement. 
  • Coordinate community outreach events with help from church staff/volunteers.  
  • Build relationships with C&MA International Workers; explore opportunities for strategic partnerships, 
  • Coordinate Annual Missions Conference and short-term missions trips. 

Other Responsibilities 

  • Preach occasionally on Sunday morning as directed by the Senior Pastor, usually between 12-15 times a year, and assist with worship services where needed: announcements, prayer, communion, etc.  
  • Officiate weddings and funerals when called upon.  
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Pastor.  

Qualifications:

  • Evidences a solid and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  
  • This position holds elder authority; therefore, candidates should meet the requirements for elder from Scripture (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-16). 
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Bible college or seminary. 
  • Experience: Preferred 3+ years in vocational ministry.  Part-time and full-time experience will be considered.

  • Agrees to a background check by our search team during hiring process.  
  • Is licensed or agrees to pursue licensing/ordination with the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

  • Uses professionalism and discretion.

  • (Bonus): Possesses a background in media/social media.   

Hours: 

A schedule of approximately 50 hours per week is a normal and reasonable expectation for full-time pastoral staff. One regular day off is expected and should be carefully guarded for the sake of personal and family health. At the same time, recognize that needs and crises cannot be predictably scheduled, and extended hours are occasionally called for. The flexible nature of ministry makes schedule adjustments possible as the need dictates.  

Compensation: 

  • Full-time salary and benefits package will be provided.  
  • Specifics will be negotiated and detailed in a written Ministry Agreement for the position.

Lockport Alliance Church
Youth Ministry Director (Part-time)

Job Overview: To inspire and lead a team dedicated to anchoring the hearts of teenagers to the truth and leading them to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve and support the vision, mission and strategic plan of Lockport Alliance Church. 
  • Attend Sunday morning worship services regularly and serve as the youth ministry representative to the Ministry Board. 
  • Meet regularly with the pastoral staff for coaching and communication. 
  • Work with a well-established team of passionate adults to disciple youth in their walk with God in both large group and smaller relational environments. 
  • Recruit additional adult volunteers as needed. 
  • Coordinate weekly youth group meetings during the school year and various activities during the summer. 
  • Give leadership to calendar and curriculum planning for youth group and activities. 
  • Encourage teens to participate in the larger ministry of the church through fellowship, worship and service opportunities.   
  • Plan, coordinate, and attend youth camps, retreats, fundraisers, and service opportunities. 
  • Arrange necessary transportation, facilities, and parental consent for off-site activities.  
  • Organize and facilitate “Youth Sunday” annually to highlight the youth ministry and honor graduates.

  • Maintains a high level of excellence and quality. 
  • Values a “team approach” to ministry and is loyal and teachable. 

Hours:
A schedule of approximately 12-14 hours per week will be expected.  At the same time, recognize that events, camps, and retreats come up and extended hours may occasionally be called for.  The flexible nature of ministry makes schedule adjustments possible as the need dictates. 

Compensation:
This is a salaried position set at $11,500 per year and will be reviewed annually by the elder board.
